Small Cake Makers Warned By Fashion Giant
Small scale Scottish baker’s Truly Scrumptious have been warned to stop making cakes in the shape of Louis Vuitton bags – as they look too realistic.
Truly Scrumptious produced the toothsome suitcase last year especially for a customer and after that it swiftly became a success with designer fans all over the world but the designer brand sent a firm warning to the bakers that they were not to make the cake again unless their permission had been granted.
The cake makers are now hoping to get an agreement from the haute couture giant to enable them to continue to selling their designer goodies. The warning was received last September 2008 as a reaction to the popularity of the sweet treats on websites and blogs all over the world. News of the striking similarity to the designer brand grabbed the attention of The Louis Vuitton fashion house, which then proceeded to warn off the cake makers. But far from being frightened of the warning, the bakers see it as being the highest compliment they have received to date
The Managing Director of Truly Scrumptious Mr David Brice is enthusiastic about the possibility of working with the huge name in designer merchandise brand.
Mr Brice said: “We receive a wide range of requests for cakes to order, and designer brands have proved extremely popular” whilst adding “We are keen to increase links with leading brands, so we can offer an even wider choice to customers. We would be thrilled with the opportunity to work with an iconic brand like Louis Vuitton.”
The company already have permission under license to produce the widely know brand of Me to You bear cakes and aspire to carry on with their links to other iconic brands.
Mr Brice: said “An arrangement with Me to You bears has already proven successful, as the well loved brand is proving a popular cake theme for family celebrations.”
